Salam...

I've got a story, an interesting one, and it's a real one.

Once, Prophet Ibrahim a.s was being put on a catapult with his hands and legs tied. The catapult was then shot into a great big flame and Ibrahim was cast into the fire.
Then, a group of birds came, carrying water in their tiny little beaks, pouring the water onto the flame trying to cease it off. But the flame didn't. When asked why did they (the birds) do that, despite the fact that the water they are pouring is incomparable to the flame. Isn't it just a foolish, pointless act?
The birds replied, "I did my best. This is the only thing i can do. In the hereafter, if i were to be asked what did i do to help Ibrahim when he was on fire, i can answer Allah that I tried my best to put the fire off"

What can we do remembering the fact that we, human are Allah's greatest creation compared to tiny little birds to help our Palestinian family? Are we now, trying our best to help them, support them and make full use of what we are gifted with, our brains and minds?

(I'm not being political but) Dr Mahathir said this:-

What can we do is totally worthless. We can boycott US products.
But can we? Well not completely. Maybe partially. Like not drinking Coca-Cola, or not seeing the latest blockbuster.
It is NOT GOING to stop the US from remaining the most powerful nation and continuing to kill people directly or indirectly.
But if 10% of the people in the world who drink Coca-Cola stop drinking it there would be some impact. If Malaysians drink, say 50% less Coca-Cola (because their lives depend on it) there would be some impact too. If nothing else it will demonstrate our displeasure with the Americans.
for the whole article, click here

So, a former PM, whom I know had experience dealing with country's finance after 22 years of ruling, said directly that our boycott WILL NOT bring the economy of the US down. Are we still going to boycott US products? Are we still going to restrain ourselves from buying J&J baby powder, Clean & Clear cleanser etc, just to show our displeasure? It won't bring them down.

But, say we do not boycott. In the hereafter, we will be asked "Your relatives in Palestine was being bombed, was being killed, was being shot almost everyday for 60 years (up to 2009). What did you do to help them? What was ur effort to relieve them?" What can we answer?
Can we really say we did our best, we prayed for them night and day. Is it true? Is it really the best we can do?
Will we die not eating McD?

Will we die taking Safi face powder instead of J&J?

Will we die drinking RadixCoffee @ Kopi Kapal Api instead of Nescafe?

Is praying really our best effort?

I never deny that prayer is a Muslim's superweapon. But tat doesn't mean we do not have to do any other than praying. If tat is so, why would our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W need to go to war? Why didn't he sit down, and pray that Allah bestow upon them victory? That is because, Islam do not allow us to leave everything to Allah without lifting a finger. We must work hard for what we want to achieve, and leave it to Allah whether He is going to bestow that achievement upon us or not. He knows best.

My point here is, DO NOT stop boycotting, just because it will not bring down the economy of US. But, continue boycotting because that is the best most of us can do. I am pretty sure some of us can do better. Some can donate thousands RM to Palestine, some can even go to Palestine to contribute. But for us normal citizens, boycott is our biggest contribution.

Warm warm chicken stool (a direct translation of a Malay proverb) To Malay readers, figure it out urself. Eheh...

Remember Fitna?
A short film by Geert Wilders, a Dutch parliamentarian.
It's a story which manipulated the verses of the Quran as if Islam is very wild, and cruel etc.
Enough of intro, bet most of us know what is the film all about.

What happened right after the film being released?
  1. The whole Muslim World was in chaos.
  2. Almost every Muslim in the world criticised the film.
  3. Malaysia even prohibits the distribution of the film.
  4. Malaysians decided to boycott Dutch products.
  5. Philips, a Dutch company in Malaysia expressing its frustration towards Geert Wilders who made the film in order to stop Malaysians from boycotting its products.
  6. Mydin helped in boycotting Dutch products.
  7. "Boycott Fitna" was the most popular words coming out from almost everyone's lips.
What happens now?
  1. Malaysians (not all) forgot about Fitna
  2. Malaysians started buying Dutch products, again
  3. Dutch Lady is still on the shelves in all stores in Malaysia.
Why aren't we not boycotting Dutch products now?
We stopped, becaue the issue is over?

Know what Geert Wilders said?

"Islam is not a religion, it's an ideology"
"the ideology of a retarded culture"
"I have a problem with Islamic tradition, culture, ideology. Not with Muslim people."
"My intention is to show the real face of Islam. I see it as a threat"
Want more? Click here

Are we really going to let this issue pass just like that?
Stop boycotting after 3 months?
Will we do the same to our Palestinian brothers and sisters?
They suffered, face bombs and missiles for 60 years!
We boycott as to show our support to them.
After 6 months, they are still facing problems and being denied their rights to food and medication while we started drinking Coca-Cola, visitting Starbucks etc because the "issue had passed".

Is Dr M correct?
Melayu Mudah Lupa?
Prove him wrong pls...

p/s: I talked a lot in this post. Blurted most of the things in my mind out. Not all, though. Hope I will get feedbacks on this. Correct me if I am wrong in any part. I am just a human being, never perfect.

Assalammualaikum w.b.t.

Salam...
Why do i have two "Last Day" posts in less than a week?
Simple, first "Last Day" is last day with housemates. Second "Last Day" is last day being regarded as INTEC student. So, today is the second "Last Day".
I remembered when I was a junior, one of my INTEC-mate (actually i don'tknow her) was being suspended because she criticised INTEC administration, the rule where students need to wear long sleeves and even the fierce security guards.
So, since I am no longer an INTEC student after this, can i do the same thing now? INTEC can't suspend me, i graduated! *Evil grin, but not as evil as the isray-hellist*

First Week

I remembered my first day registering in Cemara. There were a lot of guys and girls helping out. At that time, stories of new girls getting into school, grabbing the attention of seniors (guys) were playing in my mind (can't help it, most western stories are like that, a proof that we eastern people have been contaminated with the western lifestyle). Will I grab any attention from any senior there? It's funny to remember wat i felt then. I was so "gatal" back then. I'm sure Atikah dearie will say the same thing.

That night, we were introduced to some RS, Cikgu Hassan, and security personnels if i'm not mistaken. Was too blurr to even remember who gave his speech. My MMS week was fun. My facilitator was Kak Nadirah, we called her Kak Nad. I met Ain, my roommate during our activities in the group. Tell you, Ain was reallly totally different 18months back!

During our first few activities, we were brought to ALM block. It was so very sophisticated, (i thought back then, and still now) The architecture was nice, eventho i dont know how exactly to evaluate it. MMS week was fun, and it is still fresh in my mind now. The Penghulu for the week was ALMEC's Vice President, Abg Khalil, or better known as K. Undeniably, tat time i thought he was handsome. Remember the senior-junior story? But of course, no more now. And yes, he is now one of my close friend's special. Mira, sorry that i admit this in public, tp u dont have to worry abt me anymore now. Hahaha...

[above] This was the spot i thought is fascinating. A walkway, without roof!

[above] ALM square hot spot.

[above] it was ok once, now? ALM students are aggresive! Who says we are nerd? We can break floors u know? *Suddenly i remembered the phrase groundbreaking thinker*
[above] ALM block from front

[above] This is where I go to if i skipped cls. Well, need to admit, i do skip cls. But not the whole hour of it. Only 10 or 15mins. When i am too sleepy. So i'll go to the surau, and take a nap. Then, i'll wake up fresh, and go back to cls.

[above] Closed and almost forever-closed ALM cafe. I heard lately it's been opened again? Sad i don't have much opportunity to eat there.

My Involvement

I am pretty sure i get this gene from my mum. It's called "can't sit quietly" gene. I get myself involved with LOADS of activities. My first was a zapin dance during the closing ceremony of INTEC INPRO. Friends, don't be surprised. Yes, i do dance. Hahaha.. But Atikah always can't believe I can dance. Mean nye... Hahaha... *Sorry Kah!*

After the dance, I went for ALMEC HICOM election. I was interviewed by our very own President at that time, Kak Izza Arsyika. In a cls room... Not like what my batch did to ALM9, we were so sempoi, kt marble chair pun blh interview.

After the election, my name was shortlisted. We didnt have time, and was not asked to do a campaign for ourselves as we were given (if i'm not mistaken) only two days to prepare for the big day where we need to deliver our speech. I was in the same cls with Afiq at that time. On that day, Afiq was surprised that i prepared a whole text for my speech. Afiq was really simple, not preparing much, unlike me.. Well, boys...

I narrated a story on that day. And was laughed by Ah Siong, until now. He said, "the girl who narrated a story when everyone else was giving speech". Whatever i did on that day, I was elected to be the secretary of ALMEC. And so we started doing our own tasks, dutifully. Discussing on upcoming activities, excitedly...

Our first projectw was majlis berbuka puasa ALMEC HICOM. From there, i communicated a lot with Andrew, ALMEC's former secretary. I got a lot of advises and teachings from him. Andrew, thanks!

I didn't only join ALMEC but CATs as well. I was personally elected by Kak Zizi for the post ALM Publisity Bureau. Sadly, the posts have been terminated by CATs committee this year. Do you know that the person holding that post is responsible for all the fliers for any upcoming activities? If you don't have that post, who's gonna distribute all the infos to every program? Tp, i have no right on it anymore now. So, let the new committee settle that. I'm sure they have their own reasons for terminating the post.

Under ALMEC, i helped in organising the biggest event, a grand dinner for our seniors whom had finished their A-Level exams. The dinner was held in Grand Blue Wave Hotel, Shah Alam and yes, i am the dancer for a performance, again.

Under CATs, i became the coordinator for choir by ALM students. Faced a lot of problems at that time. With the HEP on dresscodes, with the Facility Unit on the usage of the hall, with the Transportation Unit on requesting for bus for my choir singers. But all of that only made me more determined to get the best out of the choir performance. And to sharpen my living skills, to understand people more. I learned that we need to be patient to handle activities.

Apart from that, I joined 2 dramas; Othello and Memoirs of A Geisha. These 2 plays, although not as good as PGL, but is satisfying, remembering the fact that almost all the actors had nvr been in any play b4. In Othello, I was a guy, a knight serving the King while in Memoirs of A Geisha, I was mother, the boss of an okiya (or in short, place where customers come and get served by a geisha). 2 different characters, in one year. How can i say INTEC is meaningless to me?

[above] INTEC from the main gate.

[above] INTEC

[above and below] INTEC library. I spent a lot of time in the library during my 3rd semester as I need to study for my trial at that time. It is always cold in the library. My fingers often get crammed that I can't write properly. The computer lab in the library is one of the main attraction there, for me. Being someone who is always "near" the computer, I can't resist the internet connection provided by the library.

[above] INTEC library from inside

[above] Bus station. Or, bus site? I spent quite a lot of time waiting for bus. Usually, the bus driver will only start driving when the bus is full. Until now, I nvr know the exact timetable of the bus. But, since I've been driving my own transport last 2 months, I started to miss the bus. Honestly...

[above and down] These two places, for me are really beautiful. But we INTEC students rarely use it. Perhaps that's the reason it can stay beautiful? Who can guess where are these?

The Security Guards
or better known as pakcik and makcik jaga

It's not that I had been looking down on security guards, but whenever I see a security guard, I won't have the feeling of secure, unlike when I see a policeman. Security guards have always been somebody who can't get a job elsewhere, from my point of view. But the security guards in INTEC completely changed my outlook towards them. They look professional, dedicated to their job, and gave me a secure feeling.

Yes, they do stop us students when we break the rule eg, not displaying or student cards, driving car into the campus compound (i'm addressing this to myself) or not wearing long sleeve. But, we can't blame them, they are supposed to do that. It's their job to make sure the students follow the rule. Or else, who will?

And the best thing, most of them look like a parent. Perhaps that's the reason i felt secure? Their figures resemble a father or a mother figure to me, and i know a parent will always protect their children in all circumstances.

Complaints

I think I said earlier in this post that I am trying to do what my INTEC-mate did rite? To be frank, I can't bring myself to talk bad about INTEC. Eventhough there are some things I do not agree with INTEC, that do not stop me from keeping my sweet memories there. Living in INTEC for about 18months, gave me experiences i'll never get elsewhere.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

  1. I started writing this post on Wednesday, before I sit for my last paper, continued it after my last paper before I go to Penang, and end it today, Friday 30th Jan after I reach home from Penang.
  2. INTEC did not pay me any money to write this post. This does not involve political money, and not a political post. This is just an experience i want to share with my friends. After all, Sharing is Caring, in some ways.

Salam..
Haiz.. Akmar ni, xde keje lain ke? Translation: "Akmar, don't u have other things to do?"

Oopss.. Sorry la.. It's not that I wasn't satisfied with my former layout, it's just that I love to have new things, innovations bla bla bla...
Umat Islam kan kena inovatif dan sentiasa bergerak ke depan... *Akmar, jgn suka hati nk kaitkan 2 bnda ni ek*

Passed or failed?

I said i don't want to connect to the internet yesterday, and i really didn't! So i passed...
But I also said I want to study hard for my upcoming Bio paper, and i didn't.. So i failed...
Not failed the exam, but failed to accomplish my mission, ok?

The Theory of Evolution

I will be sitting for my Unit 6B (synoptic) and W2 Bio tomorrow. Unfortunately, i can't actually get myself to study today. I flipped thru some pages in the A2 Biology Book, read on Evolution and Genetics, and realised one thing. - The book actually agrees with the evolution theory proposed by Charles Darwin. The theory that said we, humans are from the evolution of apes. In short, apes are our ancestors.

This theory was being refuted by Muslim scholars and some Christian churches. As the Quran taught us, we are the children of Adam. Adam is the first man created, and he is created from soil (tanah) and he is a human, not an ape.

One of the active Muslim scholars that is against this theory is
Harun Yahya. Harun Yahya wrote a lot of books such as "What Darwinism Failed to Consider" and "If Darwin Had Known About DNA" to refute the evolution theory by Charles Darwin.

Upon reading the chapter on "Evolution Through Natural Selection" in my Biology book, i was ashamed at myself. Why? Because this is a CLEAR evidence that i didn't read my bio textbook. Eheh... So what have i been surviving on all this while?
As Akmar, i have 2 excuses:

a) Lecturer's notes are sufficient
b) I myself is lazy
c) We have just studied genetics 2 months back. It's normal that I haven't read that topic in the thextbook. Or is it?

What else would I want to say here?
Hurm, I don't have much idea now...
Actually, i do have a lot of ideas, but i havnt put all the ideas together and sort them out yet. As organisms need to be classified, (which is why we need Taxonomy and nomenclature naming to make it easier for scientists to do their research) my ideas need to be sorted out and classified too (perhaps it is called Akmarnomy?) - uh, i'm crapping...

That's all...
Thanks for reading my rantings...
Salam...

Eee..
The title is very controversial!
No, I had just said that i don't want to go online tomorrow.
And is started missing my blog though i am still online now.
Haiz...
Akmar.. wake up!
Allah gave u the facility to go online for 24 hours, is not for u to really use it for 24 hours.
But merely to see how u fare in this test of getting a 24hours connection and juggling with ur study time, housekeeping time and praying time.
So, let's not fail the test!
Full stop.
Salam....

p/s: Jihad is NOT putting on a suicide belt and blowing up a load of civillians! Studying hard, to get Allah's blessing is also a jihad.
Salam...
I had just came back from Chinese New Year Gathering organised by MACMA Selangor.
For those who doesn't know what MACMA is, it is actually Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association.

I said that my mum assigned me LOADS of task rite?
Well, actually she asked me to put captions for the multimedia presentation she did plus create another multimedia presentation. I spent my half day doing it.
We were supposed to present it during the dinner time but, Allah is more powerful, we can only plan. We couldn't find the cable to connect my laptop to the projector. So, what happened? My "blood and tears" were wasted. But, don't know, I didnt get mad. I was totally relaxed. "Lantak la, dh x boleh pasang, nk wat mcm mana?" Am i supposed to be like that? I don't know...

The dinner was awesome. The caterer was Restoran Muhammad Chan Abdullah, a Chinese Muslim restaurant located in Dataran Glomac Kelana Jaya. The food? Delicious... :-)

Performance? Oh yes, we have a performance from students from Sek Agama Al-Amin, Bangi. The group called themselves "Eminence" which means "Terunggul". Cool.. Their music was fresh, and interesting. They didn't use any percussions. I think they sang their own songs at first, cos I nvr heard of those songs b4. But their last song was "Merah Saga". Specially dedicated for Mujahideen in Palestine. And i loved that song! I am know googling the song, will try to post the lyrics later.

What amazed me during this event is the universality of Islam. Guess what? It is a Chinese New Year dinner by a Chinese Muslim association. But the guests consist of Malays, Arabians, Chinese and half Chinese half Malay. Oh, how I love Malaysia. Eheh...

Change Blog

Those who read my blog b4 tis, i believe u guys must have realised that I changed my blog from wordpress to blogspot. When i started to realise that wordpress doesn't suit me, I thought a lot, before changing blog. It will be very difficult to change blog as that means u're changing url as well. People will not be able to find ur blog anymore etc. I will have to announce to everyone that i'm changing url. Wordpress provided the redirecting feature which will redirect people who visits the old blog to the new blog. But, as usual, it requires money. So, i continued changing, as i don't want to regret in future when i have more posts in wordpress and it still does not satisfy me.

It turned out that

But today, as I googled Dr M's blog, i found out that he changed his blog too!
Haha, and I bet my life that he has more readers than i do.
If he can change blog, why can't i?
And if he did it manually, without paying the host to automatically redirect his readers to his new blog, why can't I?

My Last Exam Paper

Ok, i'll be sitting for my lst exam paper on Wednesday this week.
Biology W2 and Synoptic paper.
Freakieee!!
I haven't revise anything yet! And i really really mean it.
I spent my last two days in front of this notebook of mine.
Doing what? Updating my blog.... Reading people's blog...
Update my blog again... Read people's blog again...
And the cycle goes again.
Wasting time huh?
Well, say whatever u want, i like it.
But i know i can't continue doing it.
That is why I decided to not to go online at all tomorrow (Monday) except for (why do we must always have "except"?) emergency cases. I will only use my laptop for playing songs but not to go online.
I might do the same thing day after tomorrow (Tuesday).

My holiday plan

Holiday?
Huh, this time my holiday is really really short.
My last paper will be on 28th Jan, and my admission to IMU is on 23rd Feb.
That gave me only 26 days of holiday! Not even a month!
Anyway, as usual, I had my holiday plan ready.
Right after my last paper, i'm heading to Penang. Yahoo...!
To celebrate CNY with my chinese relaives. Can't wait for it.
Then?
I might go to Penang again with Farahin. To go round Penang.
In the mean time?
I have gotten myself involved with almanac (it's a yearbook for ALM). This almanac shd hv been piublished last year but, due to some reasons, it didn't.
So, i think with all these, i'll finish my 26 days of hols in no time.
Ok, that's all I think.
Salam...

p/s: Below is a lyric of Merah Saga song. Click here to get to the imeem page which host this song.

Merah Saga

Berjuanglah Saudara - saudara ku
Tunjukan Merah Sagamu Pada Zionis - zionis Yahudi

Saat langit berwarna merah saga
Dan kerikil perkasa berlarian
Meluncur laksana puluhan peluru
Terbang bersama teriakan takbir

Semua menjadi saksi
Atas langkah keberanianmu
Kita juga menjadi saksi
Atas keteguhanmu

Ketika yahudi-yahudi membantaimu
Merah berkesimbah ditanah airmu
Mewangi harum genangan darahmu
Membebaskan bumi jihad palestina

Perjuangan telah kau bayar
Dengan jiwa, syahid dalam cinta-NYA

“Early Friday morning the secretary of state was considering bringing the cease-fire resolution to a UNSC vote and we didn’t want her to vote for it,” Olmert said. “I said ‘get President Bush on the phone.’ They tried and told me he was in the middle of a lecture in Philadelphia. I said ‘I’m not interested, I need to speak to him now.’ He got down from the podium, went out and took the phone call.”

"Let me see if I understand this,” wrote a friend in response to news reports that Israeli Prime Minister Olmert ordered President Bush from the podium where he was giving a speech to receive Israel’s instructions about how the United States had to vote on the UN resolution. “On September 11th, President Bush is interrupted while reading a story to school children and told the World Trade Center had been hit--and he went on reading. Now, Olmert calls about a UN resolution when Bush is giving a speech and Bush leaves the stage to take the call. There exists no greater example of a master-servant relationship.”

Olmert gloated as he told Israelis how he had shamed US Secretary of State Condi Rice by preventing the American Secretary of State from supporting a resolution that she had helped to craft. Olmert proudly related how he had interrupted President Bush’s speech in order to give Bush his marching orders on the UN vote.

Israeli politicians have been bragging for decades about the control they exercise over the US government. In his final press conference, President Bush, deluded to the very end, said that the whole world respects America. In fact, when the world looks at America, what it sees is an Israeli colony.

Responding to mounting reports from the Red Cross and human rights organizations of Israel’s massive war crimes in Gaza, the United Nations Human Rights Council voted 33-1 on January 12 to condemn Israel for grave offenses against human rights.

On January 13, the London Times reported that Israelis have gathered on a hillside overlooking Gaza to enjoy the slaughter of Palestinians in what the Times calls “the ultimate spectator sport.”

It is American supplied F-16 fighter jets, helicopter gunships, missiles, and bombs that are destroying the civilian infrastructure of Gaza and murdering the Palestinians who have been packed into the tiny strip of land. What is happening to the Palestinians herded into the Gaza Ghetto is happening because of American money and weapons. It is just as much an attack by the United States as an attack by Israel. The US government is complicit in the war crimes.

Yet in his farewell press conference on January 12, Bush said that the world respects America for its compassion.

The compassion of bombing a UN school for girls?

The compassion of herding 100 Palestinians into one house and then shelling it?

The compassion of bombing hospitals and mosques?

The compassion of depriving 1.5 million Palestinians of food, medicine, and energy?

The compassion of violently overthrowing the democratically elected Hamas government?

The compassion of blowing up the infrastructure of one of the poorest and most deprived people on earth?

The compassion of abstaining from a Security Council vote condemning these actions?

And this is a repeat of what the Israelis and Americans did to Lebanon in 2006, what the Americans did to Iraqis for six years and are continuing to do to Afghans after seven years. And still hope to do to the Iranians and Syrians.

In 2002 I designated George W. Bush “the White House Moron.” If there ever was any doubt about this designation, Bush’s final press conference dispelled it.

Bush talked about connecting the dots, but Bush has failed to connect any dots for eight solid years. “Our” president was a puppet for a cabal led by Dick Cheney and a handful of Jewish neoconservatives, who took control of the Pentagon, the State Department, the National Security Council, the CIA, and “Homeland Security.” From these power positions, the neocon cabal used lies and deception to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, pointless wars that have cost Americans $3 trillion, while millions of Americans lose their jobs, their pensions, and their access to health care.

“These obviously very difficult economic times,” Bush said in his press conference, “started before my presidency.”

Bush has plenty of liberal company in failing to connect a $3 trillion dollar war with hard times. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities blames Bush’s tax cut, not the wars, for “the fiscal deterioration.”

Bush told the White House Press Corps, a useless collection of non-journalists, that the two mistakes of his invasion of Iraq were: (1) Putting up the “mission accomplished” banner on the aircraft carrier, which, he said, “sent the wrong message,” and (2) the absence of the alleged weapons of mass destruction that he used to justify the invasion.

Although Bush now admits that there were not any such weapons in Iraq, Bush said that the invasion was still the right thing to do.

The deaths of 1.25 million Iraqis, the displacement of 4 million Iraqis, and the destruction of a country’s infrastructure and economy are merely the collateral damage associated with “bringing freedom and democracy” to the Middle East.

Unless George W. Bush is the best actor in human history, he truly believes what he told the White House Press Corps.

What Bush did not explain is how America is respected when its people put a moron in charge for eight years.

Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration.

Important notice:

This was written by Paul Craig Roberts. Click here to get to his blog. I had nvr heard of his name before, I came across this article when i read through Dr M's blog.

Akmar says:

Is there anything else to be said?
Isn't this the explaination of why America had been BFF to Isray-hell all this while?
Oh wait, will I get penalised for saying this?

In the article above, I was surprised to read that 1.25 mills Iraqi died. Undeniably, I was very far from the news of the world when America attacked Iraq. I didn't feel what I felt for Palestinians now. *Shame on me*
But knowing that 1.25 mills Iraqi died, made me took out my superweapon. It's a missile which I had been keeping for so long, and I'm going to aim it to the White House a while more.
Huh?
Kidding...
"Doa adalah senjata org Mukmin" - A quote from Prophet Muhammad Rasulullah p.b.u.h
Which means the super weapon of a Muslim is his prayer.

Akmar apologises:

I really want to write more on this. But, my beloved mum had assigned with a lot of work to be done, by tonight. So, need to go now. Will try to post more things when I got my task done. :-)

Saturday, January 24, 2009

This post was originally created on December 24, 2008. As I had transferred my blog here, I decided to copy this post as well. Somebody suggested to me that this post "will have contributed to some degree to outlook on life".

Today, our last Chemistry cls with Mr Allan. After almost 1 year studying with him, undeniably Chemistry had nvr been more interesting (Mr Allan, im not trying to get more marks for my trial. But I really dun mind if u wanna show ur generosity ;p). I was transferred to his cls, the so-called “fast-track cls” somewhere in Jan this year. I heard abt him from other classes b4 that. And i was like, “Cool, they hv an English man teaching them”. But when i started in his cls, i was damn blurr. Chemistry had nvr been worse. I hadnt had the chance to hv a chem cls b4 that with my previous lecturer. And he taught his cls a few topics ahead “Hess’s Cycle” to be exact.

My 1st cls with him, was disastrous. He came into the cls, started scribbling on the whiteboard, talked English non-stop, with his accent, and I sat at the back of the cls trying to adapt to what’s going on. Abt 10mins after, I was handed a namelist, where I was supposed to sign, it was an attendance sheet. My name was no where in the list, so is Hui Fong’s. We didnt know what to do. We asked the student in frnt of us (i can remember who, i didnt know them back then) and they simply shook their head. They were just in total shock as i am.

Second, third and fourth classes didnt get any better. He scribbled his notes on the board, us trying to copy exactly what he wrote though we didnt understand, and he started talking abt weird and looked-complicated equations and i started scratching my head and i was almost certain i prefer Ms Shanti a lot more.

Practical sessions in the lab, were sessions i dreaded the most every week. I didnt even dare to look into his eyes. Was even trembling when he came anywhere near my table to see what am i doing with my samples and substances. Was even scared to take tissue papers on labels on his table in front of the lab. I was practically imitating whatever Hui Fong, Siew Huan and August were doing. I wondered, “how come they look so confident in doing the experiment?”

Towards the end of 2nd sem, which was somewhere in May 08, Pn Rita was discussing with us abt our Bio lecturer 4 d nxt semester. And suddenly it strucked me! Why don’t we discuss among ourselves and request 4 a change in Chem lecturer? We can request 4 Ms Shanti. I thought she is better than Mr Allan. At least she desnt teach out of syllabus. We sort of discussed abt it among ourselves but no one actually went to Mdm Rita and voice it out.

And that was exactly how we got Mr Allan again for our 3rd semester.

But, things started to turn the other way around. Were 3rd semester Chem topics are a lot easier, or I am beginning to understand Mr Allan’s way of teaching? Am I getting better in his cls because I had somehow been successful in tuning myself to be in the same frequency as his? Am i up to his lvl of teaching now? Am i used to him alrdy? Or had i been very motivated during the smester break that I can juz absorb anything he’s teaching? Whatever happened to me, happened to Hui Fong as well. She found it easier to understand Mr Allan’s cls this sem. She was d one who came out with the “same frequency” theory.

As time passes, we started to study more on organics and being an organic chemist, Mr A sure knows what he is talking abt. Although undeniably sometimes, he will get excited explaining abt a topic and started to use difficult and unknown terms and at the end of it, he’ll say “But of course, Edexcel doesnt require u to know all these” or “U r lucky this is not in A level” and I started to breath again. Fuh!

There is one stage, where I came to realise a very important way not to get confused in his cls. Listen to him well, and when he started to give really really really weird equations or facts or mechanism etc, take it lightly. There is 85% probability that is not in A level syllabus. And so far, I had got it all correct.

So, that is the end of my experience being in a foreigner’s class. Foreigner? Still considered foreigner? Hurm, maybe not… Rephrase.. So, that is the end of my experience being in an English man’s class. I would really miss his cls… But, life goes on…

Yesterday was the last day for me to spend time with my housemates (Ain, Atikah n Fatin) as their housemates. After 28th Jan, I am no more an INTEC student, which also means, no more their housemates. :-(

We were lucky that Atikah's brother can't fetch her early. Hence we had more time to be spent together. For the first time in this 1.5 years, we went to the TV room, to watch tv. Well, we were supposed to watch tv but we didnt. We snapped a lot of pictures, and we chatted. Next, we went to Al-Rafi Bistro for a drink. We had nvr went out juz for a drink b4. That was the 1st time.

Once upon a time

I met them in Jul 07. To be exact, 1st July 07.
Since then, I stayed with 3 strangers, not knowing them at all before this, trying to know them better, and tried to compromise on a lot of things.
If P.Ramlee can say "sedangkan lidah lagi tergigit, inikan pula suami isteri", i'll say "sedangkan lidah lagi tergigit, inikan pula kwn serumah". Oops.. X kena rhyme pulak.. But nevermind, the important thing is the content.
During the early stages, I was happy that I managed to find good housemates. But undeniably, after some time living together, I came to realise that nobody is perfect. They have their own attitude, which some times I can't agree with.

Conflicts and Fights

Sounds controversial?
Well... It's unavaoidable. Nobody is perfect.
There are times where we didnt talk to each other.
But all the fights taught us to be better friends.
Taught us to tolerate each other.
And tell us more about each other.

Love and affection

Though we tell each other off, we still love each other.
Not to forget, how Atikah always bully Fatin, they are the ones who always cheer up the house.
Fatin, no matter how she was bullied, and kept saying "aku benci r kt kau", she still agrees not to close the room door at night.
No matter how a bullier she might be, Atikah will always be the first one to emerge from her seat if any of us is hurt or injured. She'll be the one who feel our temperatures if we have been laying on the bed for a longer time than usual.
Ain? No matter what she forgot, I know she won't forget me. Eheh...And am sure she is trying her best to overcome that problem of hers.

Wrapping Up

Out of all 3 of us, only Atikah reads my blog. Hahaha.. So Ain and Fatin will not know the existence of this post until somebody tells them.
What I want to say is... I Love You Guys!! Though I am no more ur housemate, don't find a new one to replace me k. I'm irreplacable. *perasan sorg*

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty. He asks one of his new Muslim students to stand and…..

Professor: You are a Muslim, aren’t you, son?

Student : Yes, sir.

Prof: So you believe in God?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?

Student : Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?

Student : Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is this God good then? Hmm?

(Student is silent.)

Prof: You can’t answer, can you? Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?

Student :Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?

Student : No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?

Student : From…God…

Prof: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?

Student does not answer.)

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?

Student :Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?

(Student has no answer.)

Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son…Have you ever seen God?

Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?

Student : No , sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Prof: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Prof: Yes.

Student : No sir. There isn’t. (The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light….But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where theargument is going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class is in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain? (The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it?….No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH. That is all that keeps things moving & alive.

NB:I believe you have enjoyed the conversation…and if so…you’ll probably want your friends/colleagues to enjoy the same…won’t you?…forward them to increase their knowledge…

Below is a comment from a reader. The original comment can be obtained here.

Explaining on the flaws of the argument above. Remember, nothing is perfect. :-)

First comment

There is a flaw in the argument. See if you can spot it.

Beware: there are dark forces out there who appear to be clever.

Here’s how it works… If you want to destroy/attack something, you build it up (anonymously of course) and make it seem so good, but you include a deliberate flaw in it. Then you think the time is right, you draw attention to the flaw and you cause the whole thing to come crashing down, which brings the whole issue into disrepute and causes disillusionment.

A number of people try and do that against Islam.

Thankfully many Muslims faith is so strong they can survive acts of deliberate sabotage, but some do not, and it serves to strengthen non-Muslims against Islam even more, reinforcing their manipulated fears about Islam, as they too were unaware that it was a set-up.

It’s an variation of a straw man argument.

Al- Anfal:30
Ali Imran 54

Second comment

The creator of the story never made the Muslim student reply to the Professors questions. So those who look disfavourably on the Islam or God in general, say it isn’t fair, but the professor was ‘good’ because he bravely answered the students question.

The second thing is that a science Professor would not have given those answers. A professor of science would not belie in physical quantities (which is context of how they are used in the story) of ‘cold’ or ‘darkness’.

The Professor has been set-up to look stupid relative to the believer, and that the student/believer is ‘better’ because he is correct, however when someone points out that the Prof wouldn’t say that, then the ‘high position’ the believer was elevated to (’cos he’s smarter than the Prof) gets destroyed and people may think belief in God cannot replace “science” as a principle on which one can construct ones life.

Science can be argues against, and perhaps this story was a sincere attempt to do that, but works of fiction which contain flaws may have a negative impact. Whether this and other similar stories are deliberately flawed is hard to say.

One thing that can be said with near certainty: there are many people who spend a lot of effort trying to destroy peoples Faith in God, which is THE inseparable commonality in Abrahamic faith. Sure we may argue about small details that separate our beliefs, but we ALL agree on one God.

As a person of faith in The Creator, you are a target for those who would love nothing better than to see you flee from that faith. This latest round of hideous unimaginable mass murder of over a thousand Palestinians (over 400 women and children) [sadly nothing new in Palestinian history under the Zionist occupation] has thankfully seen people of faith rally together to denounce these savage killers. You can see the threat and obstacle posed by people of faith against their greedy and savage goals.

Destroying their faith and replacing it with a perverse doctrine masquerading as a faith is their forté.

Divide and conquer.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

This is a very interesting video.

It opened my eyes and i hope it will do the same thing to you.

Wait, who is Tzipi Livni?

She is currently the Foreign Ministers of the in-real-life-it-doesnt-exist Israel country.
